Today’s verse celebrates self-control and the Holy Spirit at work in us! πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ™

When the word “meekness” come to mind, what do you think of? I think most people usually think of someone who is shy, reserved, or something similar. What meekness actually means here is, having the power to do or say something, but instead choosing not too; being humble. For example, let’s say you are in a fight with a friend or family member, and you feel yourself getting angrier and angrier. The moment suddenly comes where you could end this whole argument by one short, harsh remark, but instead you choose not to. You choose to show grace and forgiveness to the other person; you choose to remember Christ had the chance before Pilate to retaliate, fight back, and tell the world He was innocent, and yet, He didn’t. Instead, Jesus chose to humble himself “by becoming obedient to deathβ€” even death on a cross!”

So, my friends, choose meekness today! Meekness is not weakness, it’s actually strength! It takes a lot of humility to let others be right more than you and have the “final say.” It takes wisdom and self-control to let others “go free” and live in the grace and forgiveness you extend toward them. When we are meek, we give the Holy Spirit a chance to continue to work in our lives and make us even more like Christ!
