Miracle Mondays (God Values Life)!

Young sprout on a black backgroundI bet you are wondering why I am posting on a Monday. Well I have decided to start a thing on my blog called, “Miracle Mondays.” This is when, once a month, I talk to people I know and ask them what miracles they have seen God do in their lives. These will tend to be longer, so find some down time and sit back and see what God is doing in the world around you!

Sometimes when we read people’s stories on social media or see them on YouTube, we can often feel discouraged as if God isn’t working in our lives. We might often feel like God only works in other people’s lives and not our own. Let me tell you, this is not true! What I hope you get out of Miracle Mondays is that you will see God is alive and well. He is working in the world and in your life (Hebrews 4:12a).

There are three questions we will address in every M.M. (Miracle Mondays):

1. Was there ever a time in your life when you didn’t believe in miracles? If so, what changed?

2. Do you have a story you could share when you knew God caused a miracle in your life?

3. How did this miracle change your life?

I have asked three women these three questions. The first lady’s name is Shawn. Shawn is a dear friend of my older sister and lived near us before we moved to Arizona. Now her reply to the three questions above aren’t quite what I would describe as a “miracle.” It’s more of a time when the Holy Spirit was working in her life (Ephesians 2:10).

1.Q. Was there ever a time in your life when you didn’t believe in miracles? If so, how did that change?

“Yes! I really didn’t think that God could do big things in my life. I always heard really cool testimonies from other people but I just didn’t think I would ever witness one. What changed that was growing in maturity and God opening my eyes to have real faith.”

2.Q. Do you have a story you can share when you knew God caused a miracle in your life?

“God has done many miracles in my life. One of them happened on a mission trip to Mississippi. Some friends and I were ministering outside the only abortion clinic outside Jackson, called the Pink House. A lady had driven up to the parking lot, and my friend and I stopped her in the driveway. She rolled down her window so we could talk to her. We shared with her the truth of the gospel and why abortion is wrong. She was hesitant at first, but you could tell she knew the truth of what we were talking about. She got out of her car and we walked across the street to a crisis pregnancy center. We waited with her so she could get a free ultrasound. After an hour of waiting, she decided to keep her baby! God used my friend and I as a mouthpiece to save a life!”

3.Q. How did that miracle change your life?

“My family does a lot of ministry together. That was the first time I was really involved with saving a baby from abortion. It was so encouraging to me to see how God uses people to glorify Him in so many different ways.”

The second girl I talked to is Karlee. She is a girl I met at a co-op I was going to about a year ago. (Co-op is a voluntary homeschooling group.) She and I exchanged numbers, and we text each other every once in a while. Karlee is 12 years old and I am excited for you to hear her story (Job 33:4).

1.Q. Was there ever a time in your life when you didn’t believe in miracles? If so, how did that change?

“I have always believed in miracles. Several times I have been reassured and amazed at how God performs in your own life!”

2.Q. Do you have a story you could share when you knew God performed a miracle in your life?

“Oh there are so many! When my mom was trying to get pregnant with me, she struggled greatly. Once they tried many options, and the final one said there was only two percent chance of it working, and it worked! It’s a miracle I am here today!”

3.Q. How did this miracle change your life?

“My life changed because I’m alive!!”

There is one last lady I want to introduce to you. Her name is Donna. Donna is a WONDERFUL woman. I like to think of her as my adoptive grandma. She has an incredible story (Philippians 3:21).

1.Q. Was there ever a time in your life when you didn’t believe in miracles?

“I guess I have always believed miracles. I have never thought about it one way or another.”

2.Q. Do you have a story you can share when you knew God caused a miracle in your life.

“I was diagnosed with cancer first in 1979 and had a recurrence in 1995. My cancer was advanced when it was found. I had surgery, went through chemotherapy, and was healed! My doctor told me after I was healed that the only way he could explain that I was still alive was by a miracle.”

3.Q. How did that miracle change your life?

“Before my cancer I tried to control everyone and everything around me. The cancer and the miracle of being healed showed me that God was in control, not me.”

I want to thank these three wonderful people for telling their stories to me. Thank you for being open and allowing me to tell the world what our Almighty God has done in your lives. Thank you to everyone who is still reading! I know this is a lot longer than what I usually do, but I want you guys to know that these miracles show that God values life. He allowed Shawn and her friends to save someone’s life. God allowed Karlee to have life and be born into this world and He certainly healed Donna.

If you’re wondering whether or not you matter, you do because God made you! He wanted you to have the gift of life. This is why He sent His Son to die on the cross, so that you could live forever one day in heaven with Him. I hope this first M.M. has shown you that God hears us when we pray and has a plan for our lives. If we seek out and look for God, you will find Him (Luke 20:38).
