These past few weeks I have constantly been reminded that Jesus is coming back! He’s coming back to take away all this pain, suffering, and sin. He’s coming back to make things right again. He’s coming back, but we don’t know when. In the mean time, as you will see in some of theses verses, we are instructed by Jesus to make sure we are ready for His return. Here are some verses to inspire you and hopefully help you prepare for Jesus’ return.
Just a reminder: I will not be writing out all of theses verses because I want to encourage you to look them up.
1. Romans 13:11-12. I recently read these verses when I was having my quiet time. These verses reminded me that we don’t know when He’s returning. We need to arise from our slumber, spread the Kingdom of God, and be prepared. Be prepared because He could come back within the next hour.
2. Mark 13:32-36. In verse 36 at the end of this passage, it says, “If He comes suddenly, do not let Him find you sleeping.” (NIV) This reminds me of sometimes in school or another similar situation when your teacher gives you an assignment. You know how you don’t really think about it much or even study until the night before it’s due; you get to class the day before it’s due and your teacher says the test is today. You mentally start freaking out because you haven’t studied at all. That’s what I think Jesus was getting at. Don’t let Him hear the words,”Oh, Jesus! I didn’t know you were coming today,” or “Oh, Jesus! I was planning to get baptized in like a year from now, when I have it all figured out.” He won’t take that excuse for an answer. He won’t take it because He told you to keep watch.
3. Revelation 22:12 “Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, I will give to each person according to what they have done.” (NIV) This is just another time when God is reminding us to be ready.
4. Romans 16:20a says, “The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet.” This is another great reminder that He has defeated sin. He has defeated Satan. He has defeated death and He will come back to make things right.
If you are still confused on how you can be prepared for Jesus’ return, seek the answers out! Don’t stop looking. Ask a trusted Christian friend or minister/pastor.
