The Peacemakers

Day 8 celebrates freedom and adoption! ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆโœ๏ธ

Peacemakers, just like those who are meek, can often get a bad rap. Peacemakers can often be seen as those who choose to run away from or “can’t handle” conflict.

gotquestions.org says that this phrase “peacemaker” in the original Greek language is only used twice in the New Testament. The first time is here in Matthew 5 and the second time is in Colossians. Colossians 1:19-20 says, “For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.”

Christ is our peace between God and ourselves. In our sin, we were separated from God, unable to have a relationship with Him. Christ, however, came, died, and rose again on our behalf, so that we could have a relationship with God. This is what gives the Christian unfathomable peace. The Christian can have peace knowing they stand right with God and He no longer sees him as a dirty, rotten sinner, but rather a son or daughter; someone who has been made perfect by the blood of Jesus. I believe this peace can transfer to every other part of our lives. Because we are now a son or daughter, we have no need to worry about our future, what we will eat or drink, what car we will drive, what career we will end up having and so on. We can and do have peace because our future and lives are in God’s hands, not our own.

Good thoughts about being a peacemaker. God is our peace.
