True Joy starts with Thankfulness

Joy-1024x819One thing I have always tried to strive for is to look for the good in every situation. I’m also very big on trusting God and knowing that everything will work out and be okay. So today I thought I would share some ways or ideas that I do, or have done, to keep a positive outlook on life. Also, these really helped me when God moved my family across the United States (stay tuned for next week’s blog). Without further adieu, here are my top five things to do when you can’t seem to see the blessings or joy God has put in your life.

1. Memorize Bible verses. You can even write them down in a notebook or on note cards to help you remember the verses.

2. Start a gratitude/thankful journal. I do this almost every day. I write down three things I’m thankful for. Get creative and specific! Thank God for items you don’t normally think about, such as tape, socks, or water.

3. Listen to Christian music. Listen to music that will get you through your day. In those moments focus on worshiping and praising God; remember all the things he has done for you!

4. Find a reason to laugh. Look up funny YouTube videos or watch your favorite funny movie or show. For me, this has always been a great way for me to relax and forget some of the things going on in my life.

5. Prayer. Tell God all your troubles! Ask Him to help and give you strength. Ask Him to help you see the good in your situation. Pray and He will answer.

I hope some of these ideas will help you. I have definitely seen a difference in my life when I stop, listen, and notice all the good things God has given me! He is the true joy giver. Please, also, realize you may not always like your situation, but you can always choose to trust God and surrender everything to Him and know that He’s in control (1 Chronicles 16:8).
