When I knew God was calling me to start a blog, I immediately started thinking of names. I started praying too, because I knew God would come up with the perfect name. I knew I wanted the name to be a Biblical word or a Bible verse. I have this notebook with a lot of different Bible verses in it, so I decided to open that up to see what I could find. I kid you not, the first verse I saw was this, “Let all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let those who love Your salvation say continually, ‘The LORD be magnified!'” (Psalm 40:16). I saw that verse and thought, “That is perfect!” I saw the word “magnified” and knew it was from God. The word magnified means this, “make or appear larger than it is, especially with lens or microscope ” or I even found( which I really like), ” to extol; glorify.”
One of the reasons I started my blog was so that I could encourage, give tools, and give advice so that my followers could learn and desire to magnify God in every way. This is why my tag line is, “Magnifying God in every way.” As a follower of Christ, we should absolutely strive to magnify God in every way. God shouldn’t just be number one in our life; He is our life! We aren’t just Christians on Sunday or perhaps even Wednesday, we are called to be Christians all the time! Yes, we are going to mess up, and yes, we are going to fail, but that is OKAY! We have to keep going and know we are still forgiven and know God still loves us! So my challenge to you this week is this:
1. Look for ways to magnify God. Even if it is something like overcoming a sin in your life or maybe writing a card or letter to some one who is in need or sick. But also remind yourself we don’t do this for ourselves; we do it to so people can look at us and say, “Wow! There is something different about that person.” Hopefully, that will give us a chance to tell why we are different and to tell that person about God.
2. Search God out! In the first part of Psalm 40:16, it says this, “May all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You.” If you are having a hard time seeing God’s blessings, seek Him out! Look for the little blessings in your life and thank Him for them! He didn’t have to make your breakfast taste good this morning. He didn’t have to give you a car to make life more convenient for you. He didn’t have to give you mattress for you to sleep on every night. I encourage you to look for the little things and praise your Maker for them (Deuteronomy 5:32-33).
