Mothers I Admire

152600449450443Today is Mother’s Day! What a wonderful gift mothers are! They keep us safe and fed, and they give us rides, encouragement, and so much more.

Today I want to talk about two women I look up to in my life.  I am not going to talk about my mom because she out shines them all, and plus it wouldn’t be fair to the other two women I want to talk about.  Mom, if you are reading this I hope you know how much I love you and hope to have your giving heart when I am older!

The first woman I’m going to talk about is my grandma “Be Be.” I know it’s a funny name but it’s just what we call her. I admire her so much because she is hardworking, loving, a great hostess, and just a wonderful woman God has created. One thing I love about her is how she loves her family unconditionally. She is always willing to go the extra mile for you. She moved to another state just so she could be with my cousins’ family.

When we are at her house, she always makes sure everything is just perfect for us. From cleaning the the bedrooms to making sure there are cookies waiting for us when we get there. She is one of those people who makes you feel loved. Grandma “Be Be,” thank you for inspiring me to want to be just as great a grandma as you are when I get older (Matthew 25:40).

The second woman I want to talk about is my “older sister,” Jami. Jami is a very good friend to my family, hence why we call her our “older sister.” She is married to my “brother-in-law” Graham. Jami also has a daughter who is almost one! I look up to Jami because she never lets a bad situation steal her joy. She always finds a reason to laugh and smile. Jami picks up her head and keeps going. She also is so much fun to talk to and hang out with. She is one of those people who is full of wisdom.

Thank you, Jami, for being a great example of a Godly woman. Thank you for always being willing to give me advice on certain subjects and for being a great “big sister” (1 Timothy 3:11).

I want to end by saying Happy Mothers day to all the beautiful mothers out there! You all are beautiful and amazing. God knew what He was doing when He put you on this earth. Keep on shining your lights for God and magnifying Him in every way (2 Peter 1:12-15).

  1. What a beautiful post, Alyssa!! Sound you have some wonderful women in your life! 😊 A women that I’m very grateful for is my mom. There are so many things that she does for our family and Christ shines through her in all of her actions. I love her so dearly, and I’m having a fabulous time celebrating her, today! 💝

Alyssa you have such a big heart, for someone as young as you. I was very fortunate to have a lot of special women in my life, one of my all time favorites is your grandpa and mine Grandma Buchanan. But all the Aunts and my mom were wonderful.

Alyssa I am so happy that you have opened your heart up and shared your thoughts with others. I am truly amazed every time I read your blog. You have given me things to think about.Thank you sweet granddaughter! I have a little wooden heart that hangs on the wall in my kitchen that says : My goal in life is to be the grandmother that my grandkids think I am. All of you grandkids deserve my best!
