In the past week or so, I have heard a couple of girls I know say they think they are a disappointment to God. Let me tell you, this is simply not the case (Ephesians 1:3-14)! If you think this, you don’t understand God’s love and grace for you! You don’t understand that He created you (Job 33:4). So how can you possibly be a disappointment?
I want to share with you something I wrote to my friend who was dealing with this problem. I have changed some of it for corrections or for personal reasons:
“You may or may not already know this, but you are not a disappointment. How can you be? God made you! He created you. He knew you would struggle with different anxieties, temptations, and so many other things. He knew/ knows you have brown hair, blue eyes, and a big heart for the world. He knows what you did last Saturday and He knows the exact time you will fall asleep tonight. Why? Because He made and created you. He loves you because you are His. You don’t have to do anything to change.
How would you like it if someone came into your room and changed things around? That would make you sad and upset. Would you like it if they told you it wasn’t clean enough after you have vacuumed, dusted, and wiped down everything with a disinfectant wipes? No, of course not! Why? Because you made it perfect in your eyes! That is exactly how God sees you. He “wipes” us clean too and says you are made perfect because of His “wipes!”
No matter what disappointing things you think you have done, that won’t change God’s love for you! Check out these verses:
In this passage above, there is nothing in all this world that can separate you from God’s love and you will always be His (Isaiah 29:16, 43:1, and Psalm 139)!
