Oh, These Are The Cries

Author’s note: I wrote this the other day when I started to feel overwhelmed by the world and all of its problems. If you often find yourself in a similar situation, I hope and pray these lyrics/poem fills you with hope that God has it all in His hands (John 14:27, 16:33).

“There’s a girl whose stomach is turning, there’s a girl who is deceived; they think they have time, but the clock is ticking. All Heaven whispers, “He’s coming back soon.”

There’s a boy who’s lost his brother, thought he’d live forever, but the truth is his clock was ticking. Now he must wait for ‘soon’.

Oh, these are the cries! Oh, these are the cries that reach my ears tonight. They reach higher than my own, and end up before the great I Am. What does He think? How I wish to know when He is coming back to take us home.

People walking, talking, and misusing their tongues. People celebrating months they ought not to; the truth is, the clock is ticking.

People walk in violence; people walk in hate; people don’t understand it’s God’s heart they break. They all think they have time, but the truth remains. All Heaven whispers, “He’s coming soon!”

Oh, these are the cries. Oh, these are the cries that reach my ears tonight. They reach higher than my own, and end up before the throne of the great I Am. What does He think? How I wish to know when He’s coming back to take us all home.

In the words of all those who have gone before me, to Him who is to be praised forever. Come Lord Jesus, come Lord Jesus.”
