We hear this phrase a lot, “God is good!” But do we really know what it means? Do we actually take in to consideration what this means for us personally on a day to day basis?
These past few weeks, I personally have been discovering what that particular phrase means. God has revealed to me the following through experiences and the Scriptures:
God is good (Job 34:12). He can’t be bad or disgusting. He does not need saving to get rid of His sin and filth (Romans 3:25-26). He can’t be unfaithful, a liar, or a cheater. He doesn’t take the short cuts to get what He wants. He doesn’t judge us by what we wear or what we look like on the outside ( 1 Samuel 16:7). He is not evil, insecure, or lazy. He can’t spread rumors or gossip; God can’t say one thing and do another. He can’t lose a battle that He sets out to win. He can’t watch someone suffer and not do anything about it. He does not cower in fear when someone challenges His wisdom and power. He is not prideful and says, “Look what I have done!” Instead, He has to say that to us, to remind us that He is good (Psalm 145)!
He is a God of love and hope. He wants the best for our lives and never ever gives up on us. He waits for us patiently and prepares us for our next battle against the evil one. He says,”I knew you before you were born; I know what is best for you. I know you will be scared and trembling, but I will be there with you every step of the way, because I am good,” (Psalm 100:5 & 106).
