Joy is something we hardly ever experience. If you have experienced joy before, you know it’s priceless.
Now there is a difference between happiness and joy. Joy is long term and runs much deeper than happiness. Happiness only lasts for a few, fleeting moments. True joy comes from God. He is the ultimate source of joy (Psalm 16:11)! We can try to fill our joy “bucket” with other things, worldly things, but it will never be enough. It will never be enough to fill the longings of our souls.
What is that longing of the soul? It’s to be loved and seen (John 15:12). It’s to be understood and accepted (Isaiah 43:1). It’s to be in a place where only good things happen. Every single one of those desires can only be filled by God, the Creator of the universe. He sent His Son to die for us, so we could go to Heaven, where we could live forever with Him (1 John 4:10-12).
Now, I’m not saying once you accept Jesus as your Savior everything will be fine and dandy. What I am saying is that you can only find these things in Jesus. Jesus is preparing a place for us where there is only love, joy and goodness.
He is coming back and He will fulfill every single one of His promises! The only question is: will you be ready? If you haven’t given your life to Christ yet….why not today? We don’t know when He’s coming back. So why not now? (Acts 2:38)
