When I started my “healing process” (only about two years a go!), I knew it would be slippery, rocky, and hard; it has been.
I’ve often, with God’s help, have had to overcome the fears with having to open up my heart again. I have had to learn to be okay with people not liking me, saying good bye to people I love, and allowing myself to love again. The key word in that statement above is: Love.
When people like me build up walls around our hearts, it’s because we don’t want to feel all the pain and hurt. We don’t want to feel anything. However, if you don’t feel anything, you don’t have much room for love.
The past couple of months, I’ve realized that if you open up your heart to God’s love, it has the power to heal you. It’s the only kind of love that can come from God (Psalm 5:11).
It’s the kind of love that sticks around no matter what the situation and is always there even when you don’t “feel” it. It’s the kind of love you can never get enough of and the kind of love that builds you up when you’re stressed, scared, or anxious. It’s the kind of love that could set the world on fire. It’s the kind of love that is true, honest, and never ending. It’s God’s love (Psalm 17:7)!
For me I have experienced this love through my relationship with God, my friends, and my theater group (John 13:35). If you have never experienced this love, YOU ARE MISSING OUT!!
You are missing out because this love has the power to conqueror all fears and anxiety. This love has the power to forgive, even when we don’t think it’s possible. This love has the power to make the mute shout and tired to run. This love has the power to love the “unlovable,” set souls free, and save all of us from the hand of the Evil one! This love has the power to heal, redeem, and change our lives forever (1 Corinthians 13:7). This love is God’s love.
The most AMAZING part, is that you have the chance to experience and take part in this love! All you have to do is open your Bible and start reading. Start reading about what God did for you (John 3:16). Slowly, as you go on your journey of discovering who your Father is, you will see how I can say His love is healing me. The most amazing part is that it can heal you too (Psalm 39:2 & 103:2-4).
