Hello! Welcome back to another M.M. Today we will be hearing from a good friend of mine, Hannah. She has an amazing story and I am excited for you to hear it (Hebrews 11:1-3)!
If you are new here, we always ask three questions in this blog. The questions are:
1. Was there ever a time in your life when you didn’t believe in miracles? If so, how did that change?
2. Do you have a story you can share when you knew God caused a miracle in your life?
3. How did this story change your life?
Today I talked to my friend Hannah. Hannah is 16 and lives in Arizona with her family (Psalm 121). Here is her miracle story:
Q. Was there ever a time in your life when you didn’t believe in miracles? If so, how did that change?
A. “For as long as I can remember, I have viewed everything in my life as a miracle!”
Q. Do you have a story you can share when you knew God caused a miracle in your life?
A. “When I was four years old, my family adopted my little sister, Hope, from China. The amount of miracles God had to work to bring her here is absolutely incredible!
On the day we were getting ready to go to China to go get her, we still needed three thousand dollars to be able to even get on the plane. On top of that, we were supposed to have six thousand dollars in crisp hundred dollar bills. We were told the cash had to be new because China is extremely picky about the money they accept. They require it to be in flawless condition and they don’t accept checks or credit cards.
We were about an hour away from getting in the car and there wasn’t anything else we could think of to try to obtain the funds. We’ve heard countless stories of God coming through at the last minute for people going on mission trips..etc. He had been right on time for every step so far, so we expected He would do something!
I remember my mom sat my older sister and I down on the bed, right before it was time to go. My sister looked at my mom knowingly and said, “Mom, we don’t have all the money we need, do we?”
My mom simply replied, “Either God is real or He’s not. Since He is and has brought us this far, get ready to see a miracle!”
With that we got into the car.
Our friends who live next to the airport were set to watch our dog and were also having a little going away party for us before our scheduled 1 a.m. departure.
Every one gathered around us for prayer and someone asked my mom specifically if we had all the money. She explained our situation and confessed she wasn’t sure how we should proceed. She didn’t want to be crazy, but also wanted to have faith.
Moments later, one of our friends walked up to us and handed us an envelope of cash! He then told us how a tenant who rents a property of his had stopped by earlier that day and had paid him the monthly rent a week early! He was truly amazed because that normally didn’t happen.
There before us was all the money we needed in crisp dollar bills! Since day one, God had been making sure we had money for her adoption. Here He was again, right on time!
If our friend had written us a check at that point, that wouldn’t have helped us as much because it was already 8 p.m. and all the banks were closed; we needed the money in cash. It is truly amazing what God can do!”
Q. How did this story change your life?
A. “The things God did to lead my sister to our family were absolutely incredible and couldn’t have been possible without Him! Hope is a wonderful human and I am so thankful to have her in my life!”
Wow! The first time I read this, I was in awe of our great God. Things like that don’t happen on accident. Circumstances like that prove and give evidence that there is a great God is heaven. He is alive and well and knows what we need when we need it! I will always praise the God I serve and this a big reason why (Psalm 62).
Thank you so much, Hannah, for being willing to share your story. Thank you to everyone else for reading this. I really hope and pray this blog will help you to realize we can always trust and have faith in God, even when we don’t know what the outcome will be (Proverbs 3:5)!
