I don’t know if it is just me, but I have noticed a lot of people decorated earlier this year for Christmas than they normally do. Most have said, “We usually decorate early,” or “We needed some extra cheer after what happened this year.”
That made me wonder: why do we turn to putting up decorations to invite cheer and joy into our lives? In reality, we should be turning to Jesus to satisfy our longing for comfort and joy (Psalm 16:11). We should turn to the things in life that will not spoil or fade away. We should fix our attention on the things that will last forever (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).
We should fix our eyes on Jesus during Christmas. For without Him, we wouldn’t even have love, joy, and cheer on Christmas (Luke 1:46-55).
Consider the words of Jesus:
