Chapter 7 “A new command I give you…”

Author’s note: This is the last chapter of the story (next week there will be an epilogue!). Thank you all for the support on this story! More short stories to come in the future. Now, please enjoy chapter 7 of “All Who Seek” (John 13:34).

The climb back down the ladder was certainly different than the climb up. Eileen now felt peace and and an overwhelming sense of joy in her heart. She felt as if nothing in the world could ever scare her again. She was now a forever child of God.

Eileen thought back to the precious moments after the King had finished His work. The King had given her special armor to help her to fight against her enemies. The King had also given her a mission, a quest. Eileen’s life now consisted of two goals:

  1. Show others the light of the King
  2. Be a friend to those who feel they don’t belong

Eileen had been a bit confused at first, on the last one. She was confused by how she was to make others feel like they belonged when she was just learning herself where she belonged.

The King had said He would work through her and ultimately it would be Him who would make them feel like they belonged. The King also warned Eileen that her mission(s) would fail if she did not rely wholeheartedly on Him to help her on her mission(s).

Eileen sat on her bed once again staring up into the sky, her eyes fixed upon the great golden ladder. Eileen closed her eyes and began to pray out loud.

“God, my King, I will never forget your hugs and smiles. I told you I would complete my mission to my…” the little girl cocked her head to the side, “Or rather Your fullest ability. You have made my saddest days better and now I must tell everyone about You!”

Eileen yawned.

“I am getting sleepy, Lord, and tomorrow is a big day. Tomorrow is when I tell my parents I want to be baptized. Thank you for setting Your mark on me. I am tired, so I am going to go to sleep. I love you. Goodnight or Amen!”

The little girl smiled, rolled over, and went to sleep.
